WA DEFENCE REVIEW is delighted to announce the release of the sixth edition of our high-profile Annual Publication. As has come to be anticipated, this sixth edition continues our tradition of exclusive, cutting-edge expert analysis, commentary and interviews with a focus on and from Western Australia. Indeed, this is our greatest strength: bringing an independent, nationally focused WA-based voice to issues of global, regional, national and local significance.
We are pleased that our readership continues to grow, cementing our Annual Publication’s status as the largest of its kind in Australia. The Annual Publication is distributed to a broad cross-sectoral policy and industry audience, and targeted at decision-makers across Australia and New Zealand.
Our total readership grown steadily over the years and is estimated to be over 10,000 people, accessing both the print and digital editions, a clear demonstration of this publication’s value to those across the defence and national security sectors and industry more generally. We are privileged to be able to obtain exclusive interviews and innovative content to bring value to our readers and supporters.
This edition covers topics of diplomacy, politics, government, Defence, industry and academia, with our headlining interview with the WA Minister for Defence Industry, Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA. This interview focusses on the implications of the AUKUS for government and industry in WA. This is followed closely by a piece with Hon Hannah Beazley, the Minister Assisting the Minister for Training and Workforce Development – another key piece relevant to the WA defence industry.
From a Commonwealth perspective, we once again bring you a full slate of policy updates directly from the ministers themselves, including Hon Richard Marles, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence; Hon Pat Conroy, Minister for Defence Industry; Hon Matt Keogh, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel; and Senator Tim Ayres, Assistant Minister for Trade.
We are delighted to share key commentary from four Royal Australian Navy leaders whose roles place them at the forefront of AUKUS developments: RADM Matthew Buckley, Head of Nuclear-Powered Submarine Capability; RADM Wendy Malcolm, Head of Patrol Boats and Specialist Ships, Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group; RADM Steve Tiffen, Head of Maritime Sustainment; and CAPT Ken Burleigh, Commanding Officer, HMAS Stirling.
Given the critical importance of Japan and Indonesia to Australia’s regional partnerships, we are delighted to bring you exclusive content from the Japanese and Indonesian ambassadors to Australia, Their Excellencies Kazuhiro Suzuki and Dr Siswo Pramono and an exclusive from BRIG Nigel Best, British Defence & Military Adviser to Australia and Head of the British Defence Staff Oceania.
Further, esteemed experts in their field continue to contribute to our Annual Publication. They cover diverse topics of geo-politics, climate change, the double-edged sword of Artificial Intelligence and its implications for warfare, and the potential future for nuclear energy in Australia.
Further commentary comes from contributors exploring issues in cyber and information security, venture capital in defence industry and technology, and the global critical minerals race. And as previously, we look into developments in critical infrastructure, health, and logistics.
The Annual Publication is a monumental team effort, and everyone at WA DEFENCE REVIEW takes great pride in the release of this sixth edition.
As WA DEFENCE REVIEW Founder and Managing Editor, Serge DeSilva-Ranasinghe, observes, “We are now confident that our cornerstone product continues to add considerable value to those across the defence sector in WA, and indeed, making an impact on those in the eastern states and beyond. This is an exciting and unprecedented time in WA’s history, and given the uncertain geo-political times, this publication should bring new knowledge and reassurance to our readers, supporters and advertisers as a valued source of industry information.
“As always at the end of the marathon to bring you this Annual Publication, I can’t thank you all enough. We wish you many hours of enlivening reading in this edition.”
